Broken Promises.

So as most of you know I have officially broken My “only buying second hand clothing for a year” promise. I know, you must all be heart broken and although this has probably shattered your worlds leaving you asking yourselves “What am I even meant for now?!” don’t worry, I will survive. It simply wasn’t working well with my lifestyle/crazy-out-of-wack-schedule and I was not able to spend the time I needed on this.  I mean if you’re really that upset I accept cash to fund my life so that you can have fashion entertainment via social media 24/7. (Will link Venmo below).

In all seriousness though I was pretty upset when I realized I just couldn’t do it. I wanted something super unique and to say that I did it! Kind of like in 2014 when I decided to cut all red meat out of my diet for a year for no reason other than I wanted to and I really actually did it. I digress. My point is that I wanted to be someone you could count on for this but don’t you worry my Brunchies, I’ll still be posting my thrifty finds because I am cheap and love a good deal.

What did I learn through this process? I learned that I had to give up trends and fads. There was no way that I was going to be able to keep up with second hand clothes. A little part of me hurt and I didn’t realize how caught up I was in the “need it now” trends that flood the fashion world. No hate to it though, because creating a desire for new things is how many major designers make their money. It was honestly more discipline than I expected. Going into a shopping center was almost painful. I know that sounds a little dramatic, but I realized that this step away from buying all things new was creating better habits. I don’t need something every time I go out and I can tell myself no. I even consider myself a saver. It is hard for me to spend money which is why I thought thrifting would be easy. In the end I realized that it wasn’t the fact that I wanted to save money, but it was that I had the option to save money. Take that option away and make it all I have and it was hard.

I am glad I did it for a while, however I wasn’t able to see it through due to schedule and lack of time to dedicate to it because it really does take a long time, even if you are looking online. I can’t wait to show you my looks in the future when I do go thrifting and am able to take time for it. As always, stay tuned because you really never know what you are going to get with me, I like to be unpredictable!
